blending breeds

I have 4 road island red young ladies, I would like to buy two silkies. can the two breeds live harmoniously in the same hen house?

Not likely. Silkies are among the most docile breeds and their impaired vision make them vulnerable to bullying. RIRs are usually the bullies of a mixed flock. That would be exacerbated by the fact that the RIRs would outnumber the silkies. The silkies would be ostracized. Adding new birds to an existing flock, the new birds should be like sizes and equal numbers or more than the original birds.
I wouldn't do it.
By the way. It is like the state - Rhode Island Red.
There is also a Rhode Island White but they are not color variations of the same breed. They are different breeds.

I agree with ChickenCanoe RIRs are pretty know for being the jerks of the flock.
