Hi,
I believe I have a blind Golden Wyandotte pullet. She is about 6-7 weeks old. It wasn't really until today that I suspected she was blind. The other chickens will fly out of their pen when I open the door, but she (Blue) will stay in unless I pick her up and put her out. I watched her as she bobbed her head and pecked into walls and other things. She pecked the ground without directing it at anything and missed the ground a few times. Also one of our cats (harmless) walked past the chickens and all of them scuttled away except Blue. She actually just stood there and even walked around and was sitting against the cat without even realizing it. So I'm not sure what to do. Is there any special care that she needs?
Also is it common for chickens to be born blind

A blind chick isn't normal. Have you looked at it's eyes for damage? Another thought is Mareks can cause blindness too. Not sure what you can do for it. A blind chicken is a lot of work and takes extra care.

All right. No her eyes look normal to me.
Yes I imagine that she will need special care but I don't want to give up on her or pawn her off to someone else. So I'll have to do some research.
