So sorry that you are dealing with this issue. I do get vaccinated chicks from hatcheries, but I have not vaccinated chicks that I have raised at home, and fortunately, haven’t dealt with the disease so far. You will get many varied opinions on vaccinating, so you will need to make up your own mind about that. The Mareks vaccine needs about 2 weeks to give full immunity to a day old chick, so keeping them in a place where they won’t be exposed to any dust and dander from other chickens is important. The chickens can still be carriers even though they have been vaccinated, since the disease can still be present in any surviving chickens or in the area where the previous chickens have lived.
