Blind goose

This goose always seems to be distant from the rest of the flock/geese families but he's always with the same group wherever they go. He seems to be blind in one eye because he tilts his head to the side and it seems to be coated blue. I just feel bad for him because he's always isolated from the rest of the group and even eats by himself. He doesn't seem to have a mate either. Could there be a reason why he does this? He''s also capable of flying too.

I have a goose (gander) that lost the vision in one eye as the result of a fight with one of the other males during mating season a couple of yeas ago. He does fine and while mainly on his own there is another male that sort of watches over him to make sure he gets his share of feed, etc. He will fly with the rest of them and seems to do take off and landing o.k. Other that staying a bit apart from the others he seems just as normal as any goose can be. I have always suspected his apartness is just to protect himself if he needs to get away from another fight in a hurry.

That's just like the one i know, he's always with the test of the group but always stays to himself. It makes me feel bad. I'm wondering why he doesn't have a mate either.. it seems like a lot of the hurt ones don't have mates.
Is your gander a Canada goose?
