Last week when we lost the hen at the top of the pecking order the next two in line were sorting things out and I didn’t realize it as I was taking care of the kids. One got beat up a bit and is now blind in her left eye. She’s doing alright eating and drinking but her depth perception is AWEFUL! She gets food from the feeder about every 5th try. I’ve had her separate for a few days and then slowly introduced her back in. There weren’t any hard feelings from the other 4 thankfully. But she can’t figure out how to get into the coop anymore. Anyone have any similar issues ever? Will she just get use to it? A buddy if mine has a hen who’s blind in one eye and she’s his best layer. Ours aren’t quite to the laying stage yet.

No it’s not infected. I have a buddy who use to breed chickens back in the 70s and he told me to clean it out real good with hydrogen peroxide. So I did that and kept her separate until it all healed up. I’ve been trying to help her eat and drink. She’s got the drinking down which is good and she’s figuring out the eating. It’s just the getting around that’ll take some time I guess.
