Blind roo kills his only friend.

Well my aunt has chickens, and right now she has basically lost all her good broodys as well as her main roo *cracker box r.i.p*.
She has some chickens from her last hatch, all over a year old. Well one roo got into a fight with another and ended up in bad shape. The roo's eyes are solid black - creepy looking- and he is officially blind.


Well there was this one hen who sits and keeps him company - has been for the past 3 months that he has been blind.
The other day , Aunt pat went out to look in on the roo - and his friend was there dead beside him.

It looks as if the roo shook her around and some how snapped her back.

Poor hen didnt stand a chance. The roo is a big one, and now he will be lonely for ever more.

She doesnt have the heart to kill it.He stays locked up - but is great with people. From now on though the door to his hut stays closed.

That is so sad. It makes me want to cry. Here he was blind and probably didn't realize it was her.

I have two completely blind roos. They other roo from the flock tries to fight them thru their run. Im shocked that your aunts roo figured out a way to kill the hen. Sorry for the loss.

Are you sure the rooster killed the hen? It's possible that she died and he was just there -- really hard to tell when a chicken has a broken neck, since when they die they go super, super floppy and mobile, especially around the neck.

She was a young hen from the same hatch as him, perfectly healthy. Her neck was raw , but not broken. Herback was the only hting broken.
