Hey guys and gals. Ok yesterday I went to feed my flock and darn! One of my jumbo roo got his eye torn out maybe by another inmate. And my question is will mating be a big problem for him??

I had a golden hen once whos eye I thought was gone. Looked like a swollen empty socket but when it healed the eye was actually still there. I never would have believed if I hadn't seen it. I hope this is the case with yours as well. Still, if it isn't, I wouldn't imagine that the loss of just one eye would slow him down much.

Yeah thats probably it because I didnt see his eyelid or anything just the buildup of scab. And no eye I really hope his eye is still there.

okay.... I will tell you this... I have a roo that has barely vision in one eye and none in the other.... i don't know if he will ever mate.... But i will tell you this..... he doesn't crow.... Great thought for town dwellers...If they could fertilize without the alarmclock bonus... wouldn't that be great!:??? I haven't ever seen him mount any hens.... I doubt he can, however... roos are spectacular looking.... they are just fun to look at.... even if they can't look back.

SO LONG AS YOU KEEP THE HENS ON HIS GOOD SIDE--- NO! MATING SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM

Cool thanks! I will have to check on him closely. If he doesnt mate he is gona be forced to apply to freezer camp!
