Hi There!
If anyone has any info on blindness, please let me know. I have 6 Barred Rock Hens and one is completely blind, another two are deteriorating in their sight, as one is blind in one eye. We got these last fall, I think they are about 2-3yo. I also have a healthy Buff and one Sex Link which are fine. They seem very healthy other than these with eye problems, and s/s don't seem to fit any of the published info on eye diseases. We have a nice coop and runs, clean and well kept. They free range also on occasion. Finally, the ones that have sight failing, seem to have a bulbous look to the top of their eye area when you look down at them.
Note: I tried treating the blind one (when she was almost blind) with antibiotic/steroid drops with no results.

I dont think there is anything you can do to correct the blindness .. I would however make sure you dont move anything in the coop and make sure they are eating and drinking enough.. Otherwise I have heard of many blind chickens acting normal otherwise...

OK, thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, that is what our plan is at this point. "Henny Penny" my totally blind one is waiting for me to feed her twice a day, although she does know her way around pretty good, and does feed and water by herself, at times. It really makes you feel for anyone or anything that cannot see!
Blessings.
