We recieved 2 baby squirrels in Nov. They had been attacked by a cat. We got them healthy and they were doing great. Loved them both very much. This morning when I went to feed them Blitzen did not come down from his hammock to eat. I found him passed with his stuffed animal. Now poor Donner is all alone and has noone to play with. I am so very sad my heart is broken. I am now worried about how Donner is going to due because he is now alone. This is a horrible day. I just want to cry and cry.

So sorry - no matter what the animal - when they have a place in your heart - it is so sad tyo lose them!

I'm so sorry about little Blitzen. I think Donner will be okay though - is there a chance he'll be released outdoors eventually?

Oh, that's just horrible!
I have some things to say to you:
1. Do you have any idea how Blitzen died? If it was sickness, you should check and make sure Donner didn't get it.
2. Is Donner already showing signs of loneliness and depression? If he is, become his new best friend.
3. I am so sorry!

I know all about loss. In my lifetime, I've lost 10 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 robins (yes, they were all babies and yes, they were abandoned. I know because they were only hours old and they were on the ground), 1 cricket, countless caterpillars and cats, and 2 sisters.

Sorry about the baby...

I think the other will do okay as long as you give him a fair amount of attention. We raised two babies years ago (released them into the city park when they were grown - lots of food and no hunters). But years before THAT, we kept one alone, and he/she did just fine.

They are amazing little babies to raise and I can certainly relate to your sadness

Put your sadness into giving attention to Donner and it will help him just as much as it will help you!
Good luck with him and I'm sorry for your loss
