blocked nostril

i found a sweet little polish pullet and she has a blocked nose. i keep cleaning it out daily but it fills right back up the next day. any blocked nose/nare information is welcome!

What is she eating? A blocked nostril can be from feed and secretions that have turned into a concrete type of material. Not knowing her history is a little worrisome, since she could have a possible respiratory disease or a protozoan disease called canker. Most times though it is simply hardened food. Peroxide or saline to soften the blockage, a tooth pick, and some elbow grease over a day or two, may help to get it open. Are there any symptoms such as sneezing, gasping, or eye drainagethat might suggest a respiratory disease? Oral Canker

Canker is a condition mostly associated with pigeons and is caused by a tiny parasite called trichomonas. This parasite is often spread through contaminated drinking water. The parasite causes a ‘yellow button’ of pus to form in your bird’s mouth. This can stop your bird from eating normally leading to weight loss.

What to look for

• Weight loss
• Birds picking up food then dropping it
• A cheese-like plaque in your birds mouth (see photo)
• A reluctance to eat

Treatment

Treating canker or suspected canker is a job for a vet who will likely prescribe an anti-parasitic medication.
Prevention

Ensure that your birds' drinking water is changed daily. Try to keep the drinkers in the chicken house to discourage wild birds from sharing your birds’ water.

when i found her she couldn't breath through her nose but she can now since the nose has been partially unblocked. there is no sneezing, or wheezing.

she is going to go to the vet early july if her nose doesn't get any better, and she did have a bad bad case of lice but after 3 baths and a DE dust down they are all gone
