My little girl had a large lump in her eye and it was full of fluid. Vet said blocked tear duct and drained but then was inflated again hours later. Vet has said nothing more can be done. She has some redness around her eyes now. Wondering if anyone has had similar experience or might know what to do. I will continue warm compress, saline wash and antibiotic ointment for another 5 days.

Sorry about your chickens. Is your vet experienced with chickens? Many times a swollen eyelid and red eye is a chronic respiratory disease called mycoplasma (MG.) Can you get a picture of the swollen eye? I would consider using Tylosin antibiotic powder in the water 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days. It is available online at Jedds:

Rinse the eye with saline twice a day, and apply either Terramycin or plain Neosporin ointment at least twice daily. Use the ointment while waiting on the Tylosin to come.

Thanks for the advice. I will try to get powder tomorrow and start. The vets here are not specialised with chickens. I’m in a smallish country town and choice is limited.
