I am a 3 day new chicken keeper - and super green! For two days one of my meat chicks has had poop collecting around his bum. I have been wiping it, but it persists. Even though he won't like it, should I try running luke-warm water over it to soften the stool? What has worked for others?

I have had just one chick with pasty bum but boy is it persistant.

I soak her bum in warm water to soften the dried, stuck on poop and then gently use a paper towel to get it off.

She is getting better but it still is a everyday routine.
Nothing seems to have worked maybe it will just take more time.

Thank you. I used warm water and a q-tip. He didn't like it, but he was reasonably patient as long as I was gentle. Unfortunately the wiping matted down his feathers, so his skin looked pretty raw. I put a little bag balm on it. I am hoping that was the right thing to do - I don't have vasoline.... He seems alright so far.....
