I'm sure it's more easily said that done, but I wish there was a way to block certain topics or threads from view, sort of like on Facebook.

I think it's great that so many people have found such a nice group of like minded friends on here, but I'm truly only interested in chickens, and chicken related topics. Sometimes I feel like I have to wade through hundreds of posts to find any that are chicken related, and some interesting questions don't get answered because they are buried by non-chicken related topics.

I'm sure that's some complicated programming, but I thought I would suggest it, just in case you're bored or something.

Of course, I'll be on here nonetheless. BYC is largely responsible for my addiction. Thanks!

I have to say I'm with you about blocking certain topics or threads. While I am interested in more than just chickens. I come here to gather information from other people's experience. It gets a little annoying when you have to sort through all the "omg so cute!!" threads to find anything of value. We need an "In all seriousness" topic so some people can avoid all the fluff.

I have always felt that way! You can collapse each section of the forum. There is a little gray button on each end of the forum.

There is a blue bar at the top of every separate forum. Like Forum Information and FAQs, Chicken Breeds, etc. At the far end of the blue bar there is a little gray button with a - sign. It will minimize that forum.

Go to the main forum page, and you'll see, on the right a little + or - in the blue strip separating each forum topic. Clicking on that will either expand or close each particular forum, so you can read just what you want to.

edit- you beat me to it!

Are you talking about the recent posts list?

If you are, i don't like that list either, because it's full of games and what susie did for her birthday and junk.

But if you go to the BYC Home link, the recent topics are there without the fluffy social ones, and i get more good stuff without having to dig for it.

Here are some pics to help illustrate what Halo is talking about.

Look for the small gray square to the right. Right now it shows a - because that section of the forum is open. You would click the square with the - to make that forum section disappear.

Now the gray square shows a + since that section is closed. You can click the square with the + to make that section reappear.

See I see it differently because I'm mainly a duck person but I have chickens and I use the other sections too. If it weren't for the duck section, I would never find info about them because almost the whole board is covered by chicken stuff. Nothing wrong with that because it is backyard " chickens " but it seems rather easy to find chicken related info.
