Well I heard the chicky's making their alarm call this morning. I thought to my self "I left the beagle (Buddy) out on his run & he's not barking?". So I headed out the door with my rotty lab mix to see what the commotion was all about. Jade my mutt headed off the steps & went strait to her flock. As I came down the steps I noticed her standing like a statue by her head down & hair up. Staring at something behind the coop. As I got closer Jade slowly closed the distance between the critter & her flock. With a couple of brave OEG Roos backing her up from a safe distance. As I turned the corner, I was in dismay to see a blood cover walker hound dog standing there. He looked sad & tired. His paws were worn down raw.... I didn't see any feathers & all my birds seemed to be there. I figured he must of cough and killed a wild critter last night. Upon inspection the hound had 2 collars on, 1 was a tracking collar. The other had his owners name & address. This dog came from over 30 miles away on the other side if the Hudson River. So I gave him a bath & put some suave on his feet. Gave him some food & water & tried to contact his owner. The # on the collar was no longer in order. After checking craiglist lost & found, I went to my inlaws (@ the end of my driveway) & had a cup of coffee. After telling my mother in law about the dog, I went home. 1 hour later my mother in law comes pulling in my drive with a pick up behind her. She had gone to town & seen a guy at the store that was posting for his lost hound dog. He was fox hunting in my area a few weeks ago & the tracking device stopped working. From the looks of that dog he caught one. I offered for him to bring his dogs over anytime he wants to run fox at my place. The dog was really good around my chickens. The guy Jerry even bought a trio of Lemon Blue OEG's from me, & is gonna come back next week with his grand kids to pick out some chicks. I'm glad the old dog found his way home. & I'm really glad he wasn't a chicken killer......To those of you that wanted to read a blood & guts horror story, Sorry to disappoint you!

I'm glad your story had a good ending. The title will keep a lot of people from reading it though and it since it is a good story it should be read. I clicked on it by accident but I'm glad I did, I avoid these posts like the plague.

Amazing how it turned out finding the owner. Hope he gets those tags updated. Great Story. I'm a little down on hearing the bad ones. Sweet dog But he even looks tired in the photos. I'm sure today will be a better day than any he has seen for a while.
