My hen is hatching some eggs right now and one is a few hours behind. The rest of the chicks are running around but this one is still in the egg. It has made quite a large hole in the egg but there is a lot of blood. I'm worried that it won't make it. Is there anything I can do?

A picture will help. And did the hen or the the chick make to the pecking hole?

If you have an incubator, you could put the egg in there (so it stays warm and safe.)
Otherwise, I think the only thing you can do is leave it alone and hope for the best.

Since the other chicks are already running around, make sure they have food and water close to the nest. That way they can eat, while the hen has the option to stay on the nest. If she needs to take the chicks to food, the one still in the egg would get left in the nest and get cold.

There is a chance the hen or the other chicks might peck at the bleeding one in the egg. I don't know of anything you can do about that, unless you are able to put it in an incubator.

A photo would help, but if the chick is bleeding out a lot, apply a clean paper towel to the bleeding until it stops, then if you have one, place the egg in an incubator and keep a close eye on it
