So, I have a coop of assorted chickens where I keep my bantams. It's got 2 d'uccle and/or d'anvers hens, 3 silkie hens, 1 sebright cross hen, 3 BLRW hens, 1 EE hen, 1 silkie rooster, and 2 sebright cross roos(I know, too many roosters, not enough hens, it's what I'm working with right now, and it's not the issue at hand). So today I went out to feed them and realized that Psycho, my oldest(2 yr old) sebright roo was covered in blood. His comb is nearly white, so if it wasn't so big, he doesn't even look like a 6-week old roo...

There's blood all around the coop. But no one else has any blood on them, and I can't seem to find any spot where he's bleeding. No one is dead or appears injured at all, except for Psycho, and again, other than the fact that there's blood on him and his comb is white, he seems a little out of it, but otherwise, he doesn't seem to be injured.

The run is covered, and they were shut in until just now. The only thing I can think of is that maybe a rat or some other burrowing predator got in(there are some holes in the floor thanks to the rats), and he beat the crap out of it... Anyone else have any ideas about what happened and what I can do to help him right now?

Thank you,
Madie.

Look for a bleeding broken blood feather. If blood feathers continue to bleed they can be pulled out to stop bleeding. Those and comb injuries bleed a lot. I would get some Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell, and give him 1 ml for the next few days to build his blood back up. Those have just a bit of iron, plus vitamins, electrolytes, etc, and are good for a boost.

The more scrunched up photos were while he was still a little thrown off by the new environment(aka the house). He's up and walking just fine, as the last photo shows. The camera also made his comb look redder than it really is right now. There are some small brown patches on him that aren't blood, it's just his coloring where he's a cross and an incomplete laced bird. Also, I still cannot seem to find any traces of where the blood is coming from if it is from him, but he's definitely not himself, after all his name is Psycho for a reason, and he's super mellow right now.

His comb and face do look very pale, but the blood is around his neck (hackle) feathers. Have you checked his neck for skin or feather damage?

I checked, and I don't seem to see anything. I checked in his feathers around his neck, under his wings, even in his butt feathers and I don't see anything. I checked over his feet, and all over his face and comb. I don't see any signs of the blood actually coming from him. But I also don't understand how if it was blood from anything else, that he would look so off and that the blood would only be around his neck...

If a rat did get inthere he would not have beat it up he would be dead or injured, unless it was a baby.

You'd be surprised... Just last week we had a hen peck a rat repeatedly in the head, to the point where it was bleeding profusely and it just sat there until a human got too close...
