Blood... everywhere(not overly gory, but you've been warned)

When we had a rooster, he spiked a rat in the head. There was a nice size hole in the top of the rats head and nothing on the rooster. We found the rat in the pen. Dead

ETA: It was a large rat and my rooster was full grown with large spurs

We haven't had any that the chickens actually killed(or at least that we've found), but we haven't had any issues with the rats killing the chickens either...

I do not know if they are common where you live, but it could have been a bat, the blood sucking kind. They squeeze through very tiny holes.

He indeed looks extremely pale and aneamic.

Just had to look it up, since I wasn't sure if we had any around here, but apparently, they're non-existent around here. Thank you for the guess though.
