i came home today to find my sultans foot bleeding.i brought him in and cleaned him up the best i could.it looks like he has broken a blood feather.it clotted fine and i put him back in the coop and have been keeping a close eye on him.he doesnt seem to be in pain (still taking care of his ladies) eating drinking, etc.should i do anything else or just keep an eye on him?
thnks

If the bleeding has stopped, I wouldn't worry as I have had sultans with the same symptoms and they did just fine long as that bleeding stopped.

I have silkies with feathered legs/feet as well and never seem to break those feathers. Seems the Sultans have "harder but more fragile" feather on their feet which snap easily. It happened to mine all the time free ranging or in a protective pen. Go figure.........

Blood feathers are much like dog toe nails or pet parrot nails of which I clip each month on my own pets.. Clip above the "quick" and no blood will appear. In light nails this is kinda obvious....black or dark nails not so easy.
