Dear Sir / Madam,

I'm a new member and a new comer in chicken keeping. Today i have observed blood in chicken droppings.only one out of five chicken is having this problem.

Breed: White cochin heavy
Age: 4 months
Bedding: Wood shavings
Feed: Non medicated commercial and chopped tomatoes (once a day)
Water: Normal tap water non clorinated
Outside temperature: In Pakistan(113 F)
Cooptemperature: 90 F.
Cleanliness: Very clean coop.

Symptoms: The bird is showing no symptom of illness, feeding is normal, behavior normal and active. Poop was watery few days ago (may be due to temp). Today i have observed red liquid in the poop. I am worried if this is something serious. Please be so king to share your knowledge.

Regards
RM

Blood in the droppings is usually a sign of cocci - search this forum and you'll find lots of information on this disease and how to treat it. It is very serious and needs urgent treatment.

However, I have noticed that when I feed tomatoes to my hens they sometimes have noticable red bits in their droppings. Are you certain it is blood?
