Our two year old "Magpies" are broody and have been for going on 3 weeks. Like most other posts here, they will sit all day on nothing and will not come out unless we remove them from the nest.
A few days ago I found a "new" egg broken on coop floor i.e. the shell was soft and pliable like they are when the chicks start to lay for the first time.
Anyhow we then found a day or so later a MASSIVE egg
- almost double in size sat under one of the broody ones.
Tonight I broke it open for my son's tea - the first thing I saw was blood surrounding the egg inside and then a blob of blood attached to one of the yolks - it was a double yoker.
Does this mean they may be unwell|???? Or was it just because the egg was so BIG?
