I have a 2 year old welsummer hen that has had small amounts of blood in her poop for the past 2 weeks (pictures below). I finished treating them for worms with Safegaurd for goats about 5 days ago and did the emergency dosage of cord at the same time. Now I have them on the 7-14 day lower dosage of Corid but I still found poop with blood on the top today.

She seems to have been molting since the end of April and hasn’t been laying eggs since about February. She’s been more stand offish and skiddish than usual. Her comb has shrunk and is pale pink, which I thought was because of the molt. She’s been eating less, but seems motivated to eat wet layer mash, as well as the scramble eggs and Greek yogurt I’ve been giving her to boost her protein.

Would love any advice or thoughts on what else I could try or what it could be.

Thank you! They are hard to tell in the picture, but there are pin feathers on her neck where the feathers are missing.

Oh, I hadn’t heard of coral colored Urates before. Definitely will continue to monitor.

I went out today and have found a couple of poops with what looks more like “blood” than coral urates, but I’m not sure. Continuing to monitor but definitely still concerned. The avian vet that we go to has been out of office for the past week, but not sure what other interventions I should take.

I dont think its coccidiosis. In the pictures her tail doesnt seem to be down and doesnt look lethargic. There isnt too much blood in her poop either. Our chickens eat less when they molt too so i dont think its too much of a concern. Keep monitoring her behaviour and poops though.

One on my 2 year old hens is having these exact type of red spots on her urates in her morning poop. She is not sick and laying regularly. I see it once a week or so. How did this resolve for you?
