I know this has been posted by so many people, but I also have seen pretty much every one of them post pictures of the poo for verification, so, sorry, but here it is. Is this lining, something I need to worry about, or what?
My flock is eight chicks, ages 5 to 7 weeks old. The two 7 week old chicks are my only unvaccinated birds. They're all on medicated chick feed and have Hydro-hen in their water. They're still in their brooder (a pack & play with a plywood base, topped with pine pellets & shavings, changed daily, if not several times a day because they like to knock over their water dispensers), and haven't been around any other birds. Why would this happen now??

Do you know if this was definitely a dropping and not bleeding from pecking or a blood feather? I don’t see any poop. Is anyone lethargic or puffed up? I would watch for more, or just get some Corid in case it is from droppings, and treat for coccidiosis. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days.

I just picked up the Corid, along with a new water dispenser (my darling little idiots keep knocking their smaller water dispensers over). Everyone is running around like normal, and nobody seems to be bleeding.. there haven't been any more bloody discharges, though, so I'm really confused. I'm gonna get my husband to try & help me check through them to make sure there are no injuries, and then we'll go ahead and administer the Corid in their new watering dish.

If you put waterers up on blocks (I use 2x6 wood blocks, adding more height as they get taller,) they probably won't knock them over. OR the brooder might be to small. I agree, I've never seen an all blood poop before. They are indeed at the age where you could be dealing with coccidiosis but I've never not seen a puffed up lethargic chick that made me certain. Check them out to see if anyone looks puffed up ....

Nope, nobody's puffed up or acting lethargic. My Prairie Bluebells aren't being their usual roadrunner selves (complete spazzes), but they're still bopping around. Nobody's attacking anyone, either, and I haven't seen any wounds or bloody backsides. I'm stumped.

I'm not sure what they like more, the sound of their beaks pecking the metal dish under the water dispenser, the dispenser itself, or trying to peck at the water drops I dribbled on the metal dish as I put the dispenser down. 😏
I chased down every chick to dip her beak into the water, so she'd understand it was there. I rescind my earlier statement that the Bluebells weren't being their usual roadrunner/spazzy selves. 🙄 They're beautiful lunatics, who have eschewed every attempt I've made at being affectionate with them. My Marans LOVE me. Two out of three of my E.E.s adore me. The third (Blondie aka Chicken Little) only likes me when the others aren't watching. She's my pet project. I am Determined we're going to be friends, eventually.
The Bluebells... Maybe it'll happen someday, when they're out in the coop.
