I went outside this morning and there seems to be a good amount (at least to me) of blood on the highest roost. there is a little splatter on the wall (very little) and then some on the ground. Our chicks are supposed to be all pullets (even thought I am sure they ALL aren't) and are only 2 months old. I picked up all the birds to examine them and only one had a little dried blood on her face but there was no visable injury, it was a VERY small area, and there were some missing facial feathers. I feel like it was way to much blood for that small of an injury but no one else appears hurt...any thoughts?

omnivores. Chickens will eat anything that doesn't eat them first

I had this same thing in my coop..found blood in two spots on the roosts..a pretty good amount, but could find nothing wrong with any of my chickens. I didn't even find blood on them. I never did figure out what it was. I thought it meant Coccidiosis ..but that didn't pan out either.

Chickens do indeed eat anything, even each other.
Had to save a frog from mine once.
Maybe another attacked one and pecked the wattle or comb, was a usual thing with mine.
Surprising amount of blood for little evidence , too..

We have already dealt with Cocci so I am familiar with what that looks like and it is more then that.

Thanks everyone we finished the outside of their coop today so maybe they will have more room to roam or something
