One of my pullets has blood in her stool and she doesn't want to move around. Any suggestions on how to help her eat and drink or what is going on?!

Mmmm, maybe egg bound. Does her abdomen feel more firm than usual? You may be able to feel the egg in there, in which case a little vaseline and a warm bath may help her pass it. If there are no signs of egg binding, she could have some other issues, like coccidiosis. It sounds gross, but if you post a pic of the poo, it may help. Meanwhile, you can't go wrong trying some electrolytes or apple cider vinegar in her water. You may tr placing her near her feeder and waterer, so she doesn't have to travel ar. If this doesn't work, offer her some mashed up boiled egg and you may have to help her drink.

She's too young to be laying yet so I don't think she's egg bound. I'll be picking up some pedialyte and apple cider vinegar as soon as I can today. Thank you so much! Hi hope she makes it but more so, I hope my other birds don't get what she has...

I have a chick having the same problems right now, about 3 weeks old. I read through the forums and thought it was a vitamin deficiency as one of my other chicks recently died from the seizures they were describing and I figured this one had the same thing. No interest in eating or drinking and just flopping over and writhing around. I started spoon feeding her Save-A-Chick's electrolyte and vitamin solution hoping it would improve within a few hours. Carried her around wrapped up in a cloth tucked into my shirt to keep her warm as the other chicks were running her over.

No improvement overnight and I noticed her stool looked rather red so I suspected Coccidiosis. I sent my husband in for some Cortoid from the feed store this morning and drenched the remaining chicks feed in a Cortoid solution following the suggestions on this site for treating Coccidiosis. My sick chick passed one small stool since spooning her the Cortoid solution but was not as willing to drink as yesterday and seems much more tired. I have her isolated but nearby the others and she just wants to lay on her back and sleep. Occasionally I check to see if she's still alive and I would be very surprised if she survived.

Unfortunately, since posting this, my pullet has passed away. Thanks for your help. I'll be watching over my others to see if thy have contracted it.
