Blood on egg shell....

Sometimes we get a little and I mean a 'little' blood on the outside of one of my hens eggs. She is quite a big bird and weighs over 10lbs (nearly 5 Kgs). I have cut out most of her treats to try and keep her weight down but wondered if being slightly overweight caused the appearance of blood on the outside of the eggshell. It doesn't happen to every egg just occasionally. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Being overweight can be a cause for blood on eggshells. What breed of bird is it that's laying these eggs?

Oh thank you so much NorthFLChick, those links were most helpful. They are Buff Orpingtons I have, just like the ones in 'the treat' link. I knew basically what healthy treats to give so was surprised to see sunflower hearts on the good treat list as I understood them to be quite fattening, but as you say, everything in moderation!
