Poor Lavinia! She must have had a hard time.

It's not a lot of blood but it's definitely blood nonetheless. Should I be doing something for her? Will it be equally traumatic to lay her next one?

She's moving around OK in the run. And she happily chowed down when I took them some shredded cabbage and cherry tomatoes.

She will be ok, its normal.

What is it about off and on that you didn't understand?
This is why chickens are the world champion blood clotting animal.

As to why you need to watch your hens weight.... almost all of a hens' fat reserves are carried like a yellow donut around her vent. Too much fat there can interfere with the passage of eggs. If your guilty of over treating your hens then adopt a feeding schedule where you skip one feeding every week. And because egg size is a highly inheritable trait, don't set extra large or jumbo sized eggs. This makes your future hens life easier.

Hello..She will be okay. It happens with first time layers.
Laying and egg takes effort and stretches things that normally were not stretched. It's all normal.
Soon she will lay without blood. Even older Hens if they lay a Double yolked egg get a bit of blood too. It happens and not your fault.
Best wishes.
