On 2 occasions this week I have gone into the chicken house and there has been blood sprayed over the walls! It is slightly thick and clot like in some places. I have checked my girls and the only one I can see with a sign of blood is my coucou maran. She has traces of dry blood round her nostrils and I would say her coomb is looking pale. She is still eating and drinking, any advice or idea what it could be?

They get feisty at bedtime - likely pecking order stuff. How do their combs look? Also, do you have any roosters?

We have blood spatter here and there - over the years, it happens. We DO have at least one male in the coop with the girls. Now, we limit it to one mature male, but will have young males in there too sometimes. The mature males WILL fight, so if we have other ones we want to keep, we separate them out.

I have brought her in and checked her over, no injuries, just a sign of dry blood at nostril. She is eating grain and pellets. No males and they all get on fine. It’s very bewildering as there was a lot of blood!!

I would say her crop isn’t that full either. Acting totally normal though. Wondering about internal injury/illness??

I would look for any injuries of combs, blood feathers on feet or legs bleeding, or vents. If you have one coughing and gaping bloody mucus can be deposited on coop walls from ILT, a respiratory disease. But more likely it is one of the 3 above.
