I came out one day to find my rooster on top of and pecking at one of my hens (both Marans). after that the hen could not bare weight on her keft foot. wasnt sure if it was an injury from the rooster or if the chicken had eaten some potato leaves and got some slight Solanine poisoning and was having neurological issues because of it. this is a couple weeks ago and I'm now noticing some blood coming from her feather foliciles on the same foot. I tried to clean it up with some iso and there was no puss noticed. could the limping be from this? she doesnt squeal or really make any noise when i poke around the area. Could it be an infection? if so is there an antibacterial powder or spray I can put on and then wrap the foot?

There is nothing there to see really and I don't think that's the cause of the problem. Now her other foot is not really working which leads me to believe she has a neurological issue going on

How do the bottoms of her feet look?

Is the rooster significantly bigger or heavier than the hen? Is he older, with big spurs? Have you looked her over real good to see if she has damage on her body from his spurs?

I wouldn't worry too much about the potato leaves, chickens generally avoid toxic plants.

Edit to correct spelling

I checked her pretty well I think. Yes the rooster is much bigger. And now that she's Iill everyone is abusing her. I have her isolated with food and water. Gave her a bunch of yogurt yesterday. But I did notice that her other leg is weak now. Something's been eating the leaves because they are eaten

He may be too heavy for her, putting a strain on her legs. Let me ask @Ridgerunner if he thinks this is a possibility. I think I've read a post of his saying that when the rooster mounts, the hen goes to the ground, so she is not actually supporting his weight. But I'm not sure so let's see what he says, he's one of our Educators. He might know about the potato leaves too.
