This has never happened before. I have 5 hens, they are less than a year old. This morning, one of them laid an egg that had blood streaked on the outside of it. Is this a sign of a serious problem? Thanks!

It is the sign of her first egg...

Yep. I got that last week too and I think one of my pullets just started laying. Can't be sure because I have a silver phoenix who stopped laying due to the shortening days and I've had the girls on 16 hours of light a day, so it's either she's started again or one of more of my turkens has begun.

I agree. It's probably her first egg. She has to get accustom to laying eggs so her vent cant stretch to let the egg out. Mine had it to.

Same here, First egg and she talked about it for about a 1/2 hour!! She walked over and showed it to me and when I took it she was very not so pleased! LOL I left it with her to show the other girls and removed it when she got busy eating...
Its always a big to do in the coop for my first time layers!
