My chickens are just about 5 months, and starting to lay eggs. Two days ago, and today we got an egg that has blood smeared/streaked on the outside. Is this normal for beginning to lay eggs or is there something wrong with the chicken? I can't tell which chicken is laying the blood streaked ones. I have never done chickens before, and any advice would help! Thanks!

Hi and welcome to BYC!
Yep, it's common to see a little blood on the eggshell with new layers.
If you know which pullet laid the egg you could check around her vent for large amounts of blood, but I betcha she's just fine.

One is mine is doing the same thing. It's okay. She has has laid two and the blood on the second was less than the first. So, I am sure she is okay.

I have a three year old hen that for the last two days laid an egg with a significant amount of blood on the outside. She appears healthy otherwise. Cause for concern? Other things I should look for? Thanks for any suggestions.
