Could my chicks be shedding intestinal lining after a 7 day corid treatment? Only a couple of poos look a little like hamburger but the rest look normal. If it's blood, what do I do?

Other than the early morning slightly red poo they seem fine.

I can't find anything like this on other threads or websites so any experience would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks. I love that chart! When I started treatment the blood was much more red. Now it's a lot more subtle, but looks kinda stringy. If it's not lining and still blood should I be concerned?

When you retreated your how long did you wait in between? Did you retreat 5 or 7 days.

The only other time I've had to use Corid the chick cleared up in 24 hours and was fine. This time it's not totally cleared up after 6 days. That's why I'm hoping it's lining. Otherwise why isn't it clearing up?

Oh, and thank you for responding. I know there are a lot of posts with emergencies.

The couple of times that I have had to retreat, the bloody poos came back in about 2-3 days. So I did another round of 5 days of treatment. But it was obvious liquid blood and I knew they needed it.

If it is definitely blood, then if it were me I'd give them another round of Corid because if it is bad enough to give them bloody poo then they could even die from it, or suffer permanent damage to productivity (also they have gut pain during coccidiosis).

However, if all you saw were two "possible shed intestinal linings" and now nothing else- and here it is the next day and nothing else, then I might be inclined to wait for other signs. You have to go with your gut feeling on this, because you know your own chickens best.

I hope they are over it!!

You are welcome!

Well, this morning I saw blood in the cecal poo. Would that be treated differently or will corid take care of that? Everything else is questionable. Maybe another 5 days to be sure followed by Nutri-drench or probiotics and electrolites to jump start them. But only after the corid is complete.

Luckily they're still eating, drinking and not acting sick in any way. Oh, I do hope it stays that way.

this may be the most helpful link

The short answer is that the amprolium is supposed to control it from what I have read.

Excellent information! Thanks for taking the time to send the links. You're right, it seems the amprolium should take care of it. Guess another 5 days won't hurt.
