Hi everyone! I have 4 chicks about 6 weeks old now. When we first took them home from the hatchery at 4 weeks, one had some blood in their poop so we started a treatment of Corid just to be safe. We did 6 days at full strength, and are now on day 3 of the maintenance/preventative dose which we were planning to do for 7 days.

This morning a few different chicks had poop with some reddish matter. It's not quite as dark as the blood I first saw so just wanted some opinions as to whether this might be shed Intestinal lining or blood again? I was surprised to see this amount as we hadn't seen it since the first day or two we brought them home.

I should note that the chicks all seem to be acting normally and eating/drinking fine. If needed I can give another 7 days of the Corid treatment at full dose but don't want to start if this looks normal! Thanks all!

When you say "different chicks," they should ALL be treated. Corid treatment is not going to hurt them so don't worry about needing a 100% guarantee that they do have Coccidiosis. I now give it to all of my chicks at this same age whether they are showing symptoms or not because I'd rather not wait until they are really sick. I've had it occur for certain 3 times in 5 years, that's enough statistics for me. Anyhow, do make sure you treat everyone.

Thank you very much! Yes, we've been treating all the chicks even though just a few had the blood. Sounds like it's safest to just continue treatment. Since Corid seemed to do the trick the first round, would you recommend continuing with that?

Sorry I got confused, so the pic is from a chick that's already been treated with Corid?

Yes; they were treated for 6 days at the treatment dose and are now on day 3 of preventative. I didn't see this color in their poop after the 2nd or 3rd day of starting Corid until today
