My little crested poland babies were being attacked by one of their mothers. Three of them have bloody backs (under wings). We removed the offending mom (actually saw her peck the back of one). But what do we do about the bloody back. Even found tiny peck on one of them's wing. Can we spray them with blue cote as young as they are ( month old tomorrow)? Coat with petroleum jelly? What, please help!

I also need help with a similar problem. Two of my 4 week old silkie chicks have been pecked (I really hope it was not the mother hen!). I separated them (put each one in an individual cage) and will watch them carefully. What should I treat the pecked place with?

i have no idea what to do, but im sure youl find someone who does.

I just got rid of a hen that killed her babies as they were hatching. If you saw the mother pecking the chicks and there are other babies with her, I would be tempted to remove all of them. If you put the chicks under a red heat lamp it will cut down on the pecking of one another. I'm really not sure what you can put on such little ones. Someone else will hopefully come along to let you know.

I have 2 little guys in the house that where beat up. I have been using diaper cream on there backs till I can Blue Kote of something like that.

I have also been washing the sores with diluted Iodine solution 2x a day.

Is Neosporin a bad idea for chickens? I've used it with great success on dogs, cats, horses, lizards, snakes and of course kids, but never on a bird. I'm a new chicken owner, so someone with more knowledge will better answer your question. Sorry your little guys got hurt!
