I just got some ducks. One of the females has a bloody bum. Could this be a prolapse? Maybe she was stressed from moving here? It does not appear to be slowing her down, and the others don't seem to be bothering her, but I am concerned. I don't want to catch her and bathe her because I think that it would just stress her out more. Please advise! Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the injury

Good not to stress her out, certainly.

My first few thoughts are questions.

What is your drake to female ratio?
How old is she, are they? (Is she laying age?)
How did they travel to you?
Can you provide lukewarm water for them to swim in?
Do you have a picture you could upload?
Are you giving them vitamins, apple cider vinegar, or other tonic? Would you consider doing so if you are not already?

They are adult pekins, of laying age, 4:1 ratio of females to males. They were transported in separate boxes, not far. I have provided them with swimming water but haven't seen them use it yet. I haven't given them any supplements/tonics, but would consider anything... what would you suggest? They are just wandering around, eating, preening, mating (although I haven't determined whether she has been mated with since they arrived here), drinking, seemingly not that stressed. But they are not comfortable enough yet to allow me near them without wandering off, so to catch her I would have to corner her.

I use Vitamins and Electrolytes Plus, and some here on the forum use apple cider vinegar. Mine has the mother in it, but I don't know if that is better for ducks than pasteurized or filtered vinegar.

It is a tough call, but I don`t know if I would want her available to drakes while she is having this problem. Cornering them is not pleasant, I know.
