Hiiiii! So I was letting the chickens out this morning and I saw bloody poop in their coop! I took a picture of it but do yall think it could be coccidiosis? I am getting really nervous!

I am going to clean their coop and run today, and the chickens haven’t been acting weird. Thank you all!

I would keep an eye on it. Sometimes they shed some intestinal lining. But if it gets more noticeable, it may be coccidiosis. You would treat that with Corid.

How old are the chickens? Coccidiosis is a problem with young chickens under 3 months old. If I saw more bright red blood or lethargic hunched up chickens, I would get Corid and treat them. Blood sometimes may be seen with worms. Valbazen or SafeGuard are used for worms in chickens.

Ok! Thank you! My mom has been monitoring them today and hasn’t seen any more, but I will keep a close eye on it!

3 of them are 9 weeks old and 1 is about 10 1/2 weeks old! I will definitely keep an eye of them! Thank you so much!

At their age I would probably go get some Corid from your feed store, and start some in their water. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days as their only source of water. Make sure they are drinking it or you will need to give it to them.

Ok, thank you so much! I definitely will, is it good that there hasn’t been anymore bloody poop?

That is a good sign. Birds do shed their intestinal lining occasionally. I would say that was it. But you can always treat just in case. Just make sure to follow up, after finishing Corid, with probiotics in the water. Corid can affect good gut bacteria, so you want to add probiotics after to replenish.
