Hey, I noticed blood coming from my chickens back toe. At first I thought the bird may have cut it on the fence wire but on closer inspection the cut goes all the way around the toe. It seems as though the circulation is being cut off, though I am not sure. Could scaly leg mites be responsible for this? I brought her in and applied pressure to the wound which stopped the bleeding for about ten minutes while I sat with her. When I went to put her back in the coop it started bleeding once more. Should I be worried? What should I do?

Flour will stop the bleeding. Is it possible that she got a string wrapped around it? I would look closely at the wound to make sure that there isn't anything in there then dip it in flour to stop the bleeding. Watch for signs of infection since you don't know yet what cut her toe and if there is any sign treat it as soon as possible.
