My husband let our oldest chickens (21 weeks) out of their coop earlier and found tons of blood. No clue what happened. No apparent injuries. We checked butts the best we could (thinking it’s bloody poo) but couldn’t find anything evidently wrong. We weren’t previously giving them the cocci meds bc they weren’t near our other girls that had issues. Should we give them some now? I don’t even know which one it is. They’re all acting completely normal and we can’t find any injuries. Someone suggested worm meds. What are your thoughts? Anything else i can do?

You need to check each one very carefully.
See if someone has a prolapse/injured vent, bloody butt feathers, etc.

That is a LOT of blood.

Figure out where it's coming from, that will determine whether you need to treat for Coccidiosis.
What do you have - Corid?

Wow, that is a lot of blood! It is hard to tell if that was from the poop, or an injury, but I am leaning more toward an injury. Do you have any with feathered legs? Broken blood feathers can bleed like crazy. A pecked comb can as well. I would watch them pretty closely today for any weak ones or more blood. Tonight on the roost you could go in and inspect more closely with a head lamp.

Wow ive never seen so much blood in a coop! Check each chicken, count all your chickens, have any of them been fighting lately?

It took a few days, but figured out which one it was (getting them to utilize the roost was key). Vent looks fine--a little pale-- but no injuries or prolapse. ALL chickens are being treated for cocci with corid. Should I do anything else?

yesterday, I thought it was my cochin based on your response. She was kind of a loner yesterday and looked like she might have had some bloody poo on her fluffy butt. I checked her leg feathers and couldn't see anything. it wasn't until I examined the droppings under the roost that I could determine it wasn't her

no fighting, no apparent injuries. They're still pretty juvenile so we can't quite grab all of them. We did last night but couldn't see anything

She must have just sat on some bloody poop

I would guess either an unlucky mouse ( A truely horrifying thing to watch) Or maybe a broken toenail. We had a problem, our japanese girls lost all their toenails over a really bad and cold night ant it looked pretty similar
