Hi,

I have 3 Phoenix hens, 6 months old. Good layers and 1 of them or it could be 2 of them have given me 2 eggs with a little blood on them in the last 3 weeks.
The hens look fine, their bottoms are clean and they have plenty of energy. Since I have never had a chicken give me an egg with blood on it, I thought I would ask. I am not really worried, but just checking.

I definately don't have a rodent problem.

Also, what does a bound hen look like and how do you fix it?

Thanks for your help,

Fast becoming the crazy chicken lady. ....got 42 eggs in the incubator ready to pop this Sat. Will see what I get.

I found a tiny bit of blood on a couple of eggs when my hens first started laying(you do mean on the outside of the egg, right?).

You can feel the egg in the abdomen of an eggbound hen(and obviously the hen has not been laying). I believe soaking the hen in warm water is a treatment for egg binding. Try doing a search to see if you can find some more info on it. There is also a condition called internal laying that you might want to explore(hopefully that isn't the problem).

Sorry I couldn't help more and good luck with your hen!
