Bloody eggs

One of my hens (laying white eggs) is laying eggs with VERY bloody egg whites. What is the cause?

I don't have any experience with it, but apparently blood in the egg isn't uncommon - you could post this question under the emergency forums to get a quicker answer or ask a moderator to move it there.
