Bloody feathers

Is there any way to stop pheasant feathers from bleeding after we shoot them? I love to go pheasant hunting and when I shoot a bird I usually want a couple of tail feathers. Some of the time they come out bloody and we have to wait for them to dry.

How do you remove the feathers? Do you cut them or pull them?

I pull them out.

Try cutting it with a knife or scissors and see if that helps
