I posted yesterday but can't find my post. Did I do something wrong?
I bought 13 girls that had been caged for production and are molting, they look horrible. They have lost a lot of feathers and have a lot of broken feathers. I've had them for two weeks now and thought they were improving.
Yesterday I noticed that one of the girls had blood at the end of some of the broken feather shafts. Should I be concerned?
I'm feeding 20% protein layer pellets, oyster shell mixed in, grass occasionally, cabbage occasionally. They have a 20x40 run and a 15x8 coop.
I'm not sure what her poop looks like because she's mixed in with all the other girls.

Sounds to me like feather picking. I have a rooster that this happened to recently. I separated him and treated the injured area and put some Blu-Kote on it so they would stop picking his feathers.

The birds are probably stressed - which should improve with the much better conditions that you're giving them! With any luck, the feather picking will settle down. Until then, you can use Blu Kote or lineament oil to deter picking.

Continue to keep the birds as mentally busy as you can, too. Provide perches for them to hop on, treats to hunt for, maybe a FlockBlock, etc. The more they have to do the less time they will have for picking.
