Bloody poo and tired hen...

Thanks so much....

As far as wattles and combs go, hers is about the smallest of the others her age...and she's one of the smaller birds, too. I put some boards under their roost tonight so in the morning, if there is still blood I'll get a picture and maybe one of her, too.

So here's what I'm thinking ...continue the Corid till Friday and if the blood is still there go ahead and worm them? Or should I try to treat with Sulmet (if I can find some)...or both?

Again thanks a lot for helping me through this...

This place is a wealth of information.

I like option A - Corid til Fri, check her vent for fissures (cracks), and then worm them. I wouldn't use Sulmet - it's actually not as effective as Corid for coccidiosis (only gets 8/9 of the species - Corid gets 9/9) and it has antibiotic action which means it will decrease the *good* bacteria in her gut.

And as for the help, I'm always glad to be part of the BYC team of members helping other members.

Ok, a couple more....then I'm off to bed. I'll check back in before work in the morning...

I'm thinking I should worm them anyway...even if this clears up...should I wait til cooler weather?..or not a big deal?

And again, if I worm, how long before the eggs are good (if they start laying)?

Thanks and good nite!

I'd do it now and not worry about the heat. Just make sure they all drink. If you have to put a little honey in the water or something, so be it.

Withdrawal is 14 days for wormers that have a withdrawal (which are most).

Good morning -

Well, very little blood this morning, not enough to get a good picture as it was 1/2 off of one of my boards.

But I did notice that most of the hen's wattles and combs are looking pale...everyone of them are acting just fine, but a little on the pale side....dehydrated?....maybe they don't like the water with Corid in it?? We are have pretty warm and humid weather here for the last week or so....

Thanks everybody -
