I have 8, 11 week old chicks, yesterday they was eating and drinking just fine. Today I’ve been out there a 100 times and 9 of them aren’t eating or drinking. They are all puffed out and standing with their eyes closed and head sunk, which is very unusual because when I go out there they usually run to me. While I was feeding this morning I noticed there was one small little poop that had blood in it. What do I need to do? Remove the ones that are seem to be okay? They are in the same coop with my older bird but my older ones can’t get to them. What needs to happen?

Please post photos of the poop, the chicks and brooder.

What do you feed?

For blood in the poop, I'd go to TSC or a similar farm store and get some Corid. This is found in the cattle section.

Powdered Corid dose is 1 1/2tsp or Liquid Cord dose is 2tsp per gallon of water, given as the only source of drinking water for 5-7 days. Do not add any extra supplements/vitamins to food or water during the course of treatment.

Treat all chick that are housed together.

I’ll go get pics in just a second. Do I need to separate the 2 that seem healthy? Or treat all together??

I’m sorry I just saw where you said treat all together. I haven’t seen all the chicks drink, so do I need to put some down their throat?

Give them each a direct oral dose of the Liquid Corid.

0.10ml per pound of weight, twice a day for 3 days.

This is in addition to them drinking the mixed Corid water. If they are not drinking, then you'll need to syringe or tube the mixed water into them several times a day to get them hydrated and the medication into them. The direct dose is to help jumpstart, but it's important that they get the mixed water too.

Thank you so very much! You have helped me so much!
