Im pretty sure one of my hens took a bite out of his comb. It was bleeding everywhere. I put him in tub and by the time I came back with rags it looked like a butcher shop. My husband and I put liquid bandage on his comb to seal it up. Even though it was gushing so much it hardly worked at first. I have him inside in a crate because I dont want the girls pecking away at him. He is really docile and the hens are a bit feisty compared. I want to know if keeping him away from the hens is a good idea? I would hate to wake up in the morning with a mutilated rooster and little vampire hens.
Any adive on tending to the would and separation would be appreciated!

I actually kept him in a crate because I had to go to work. He had some dry blood on his feathers, but he was meowing to go out this morning. They are being nice to him. . .Maybe it was an accident. My littler herd of chickens are pretty tame and nice to eachother. Just really scary and if my husband wasnt here, I would have took him to the vet and racked up a bill! Thanks for the blood stopping ointment advice. Ill be adding tht to my animal emergency kit- Those combs are serious bleeders!
