No not always. More often than not none, this was a picture from a week or two ago but I had no idea who’s egg it was. Today one of my RIR was in laying while I collected the eggs, there was an egg later on with some blood on but not as much as pictured. (I just used this picture because it’s such a good example). This was the one from today. Yes now I know the hen I will book with get in the morning.
No these girls are around 18months. As I say usually normal, I won’t worry to much, that terrible one seemed to be a one off. And everyone seems happy otherwise
The one in the first two pictures looks like blood, the third picture looks like pigment, which I have noticed happens when the egg stays in the shell gland longer than it should.
