I have 6 peafowl at about 4 months and one (the oldest) has bloody stool. It comes to me, so I examined. The tail feathers look like it may be pulling the feathers out or cutting them off, I don't know. I fear I will lose him if I don't do something. Any ideas????? It is time to worm him again, do you think I should although he is sick?? HELP!!!

If he has blood in his stool i would give him some Corid for coccidia and see if that helps. Are other chicks picking at his tail? Does he have any mites or lice that may be causing him to pick at himself???

Check the feathers at the base, if its a blood feather bleeding, pull it out. Broken blood feathers act like a straw, letting the blood to flow. By plucking it the bleeding will stop. Feather will regrow.

This time of year peacocks are growing new train feathers. They are full of blood when growing. If very many get broken, the peacock will bleed to death!!

Best to pull any bleeding blood feather!!!!

I've got one peafowl that just loves me and will do anything for me, but how do you guys dust a bird or pluck its bleeding feathers if they won't come to you? I have 5 that don't want anything from me but the treats! LOL.

I stripped the cage, cleaned, and poultry dusted for critters but i can't get to their bleeding feathers.

I'm only have kidding when I ask, is there a way to sedate your bird? These peafowl have large talons!
