We just moved to a farm that had chickens on it just prior to us moving. My batch of 50+ chicks have coccidiosis, and I'm treating them with 20% Corid powder.

All 5 of my hens so far have been ok, though-- until last night. I found a bloody stool under the perch under one of my adult hens. She's 2 years old. She's on the usual layer feed, on pine shavings, and all adults are let out around noon to free range on our land. They live in the barn that the previous owner used. I predator proofed it and did a basic cleaning, but did not sterilize it or anything. Also, it's been rainy, wet, and muddy for weeks; also makes me think of coccidiosis.

I've checked her over-- no prolapse, no broken eggs inside her, etc. Seems healthy except for that one poop.

Here's my question: I haven't seen any bloody poop other than hers so far. And after I checked her just now, she pooped a normal poop. (On me.) ;)

Should I still medicate them all for coccidiosis just to be safe? Is there anything else that could cause one bloody poop? It was definitely blood, not intestinal lining.

Older hens can definitely get coccidiosis, especially in a situation like yours. I would treat everyone.
