Hi everyone. I'm new to this and to chicken raising!! A week ago, one of my hens (we have 7 hens, no roosters) laid an egg with a small amount of blood on it. The next day, there was more blood on an egg and that's when I noticed that her "back end" was all bloody and the other hens were pecking at her. We immediately moved her out of the coop and into a separate pen. It's been a week and there is no more fresh blood, but her back end has dried blood on it. Before we put her with her friends, should we try to wash off the dried blood?

Thanks for your help!

sounds like a prolaspe vent, first isolate her, then wash the area with warm water, apply honey or suger or prep H onto the tissue, allow it to work for a few minutes then with a gloved finger, apply some lub, even olive oil and gently push it back in, she will need to be kept sate form her flock mates until she is healed, if it is a prolaspe you do not want the tissue to dry out and die off, so apply the honey or even vaseline on it. look up prolaspe vent in the search good luck
