I have 3 chicks that are 3 weeks and we were outside with them and I noticed on had some blood on her near her tail feathers. Is there anything I should/can do for her? I’m new to chicks.

Don't worry, there is probably nothing wrong with your bird. I have found that the hens often pick the top feather's off of each other's tails. To prevent it them from picking at the wound more, buy some blu-kote spray and spray it on the wound.

Okay, I’ll get that ASAP! I had a friend tell me to get this spray. Would the blu-kote be better?

Blu-kote, and Jensen Violet are essentially the same product as is the old stand by "Purple Medicine" Purple Medicine cures the s****, the fits, sagging T*** colds, moles, and sore A******* among various other complaints.

Young chickens sometimes cannibalize each others tail and tail feathers so severely that when these chicks become adults they will never grow a tail. This is an indication of too much white light, crowding, and insufficient time for young chicks to rest and to recuperate.

I think therefor I am..... or something as equally ridiculous.

I have their heat lamp on all the time. They are in my bedroom so during the day the sun is the only light and most of the time I turn the light off at night by 9 pm at the latest. We are finishing the coop so they’ll be able to go out there soon, but I don’t want them to keep hurting each other. Should I change something Until they move out to the coop?
