Bloody Vent!!! Egg bound?

This happened to My Leghorn. I gave her a warm bath in Epsom Salts & with Rubber gloves on, put Sugar around her Vent for 3 days & kept her inside a dog crate. The Sugar Helps the Vent go back inside. Preparation H also helps with the swelling. My hen went back outside with her flock 3 days later.

Was there an egg? I have one in "hospice" now with an egg stuck outside the body. The tissue prolapsed appears hardened around the egg. I've been bathing and applying honey.

There was a Huge egg. I watched her Lay it & watched the Prolapse happen.

That is when I treated her with a Epsom Salt Bath & sugar. I wouldn't use the Sugar until you get the egg out.

Thx for the reply! The egg being stuck seems to be her biggest problem. It has a dime size spot exposed and the rest...about 2/3 appears hardened tissue around the egg. She's been pushing for about 3 days now.

Your chicken was able to lay the egg on her own or did you help get it out?

I didn't assist her. I happened to walk into the backyard & saw her Looking between her legs while standing & watched the egg come out along with her vent. I would take your girl to the Vet. She has to suffering after 3 days.
